Travel What are you going to do?

HI,
I have been out of contact but am getting back to full swing!
Where are you going this summer?
Here is what I am up to---May 12 days in Mexico City to view Architecture with my son, Nick.
Yahoo! Of course food is high on the list too.

Then off to China for a week but traveling on down to Borneo to climb Mt Kinabula then off Jungle trekking with Monkeys and Orangutan's- oh and Paul too.  Yes we need to buy Leech socks, who knew such a thing even existed.

Can't wait to update on these trips.

Let me know if you want to toss your photos my way with a note of where you have been and what was the best about it!

Traveling Mustache disorder!

It started with the Children!
How could it be so cruel to touch the smallest and work its way so quickly. The Mustache disorder has returned.

The girls seemed to be the first contaminated.
 Oh, St Louis, I blame it all on the Belize trip --Our St Louis friend was infected and obviously it went into remission and returned with a kiss!!!!
Now they are all in quarantine hoping folks will not see there demise.

It jumps back to the SO CAL area--again drinking appears to make it spread quicker!
Yes, St. Louis has recovered.
But it has not stopped.
See the terror of Quarantined in St. Louis (left side)

It jumps right back to San Diego.  Oh when will this blasted plague leave us!

Why Vietnam and Cambodia? Why not?

 I decided after more than 1000 photos the best way to tell you was in photos.
[Just a few photos to entice you]
This was one of our best relaxing vacation ever!

Interesting Life
Great Food!

 Vietnam was friendly, great food and recommended place for all our friends to visit!

We went to Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Chou Doc
then on to Cambodia.

View from Hotel Looking up to Mekong and crossing Bassac River
A normal day fishing
 Nothing beats the smiles in the Chou Doc Market.  One wonderful woman even asked me to take another as she was not smiling (no not in English-but quite clearly wanted to be the shown 1st photo then a "DO-OVER".)

WHAT A COLORFUL MARKET.

Fruit is so fresh every place we went.

THIS IS A DO OVER! WHAT A SMILE!
FRESH FRESH FISH! Many fish were  alive and jumping in shallow bowls.
Chau Doc Supermarket where fresh means fresh!

On to Cambodia.  Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Angkor Wat, a UNESCO world heritage site is a place to see in your life time. So far it has not been totally destroyed. In over the 1000's of years since they abandoned the site- the jewels, silver, artwork and sculpture and gold are gone.  Yet the splendor and heritage is still an experience to see.
The bad is the poverty and corruption that is still rampart in this country holds these nice people back from moving out of the 3rd world status.

Phnom Penh

 The rural area outside-Phnom Penh although a nice few hours riding in the country side we saw happy waving families living under a tarp(s) or  in extremely rural poor homes.
We were  told the chance of  education is minimal and food is what they have grown.
a bridge in countryside

Happy Children!

On to Siem Reap,Cambodia. The photos speak for themselves:
Bayon

Ta Prohm
Apsaras - heavenly dancers
Sad and Happy Apsaras
So It was fun. Next trip Malaysia---I hope.

Airplane Etiquette

As I sit in the lounge of the Incheon Airport.  I want to know if we can post on the walls of every bathroom stall in the airport and maybe hand out colorful reading material as you get your ticket (You are sitting in the airport for at least 90 minutes anyway) of a list of Airplane Etiquette.

Here is how I see it:

1. Learn the queue- It is an orderly line not a pushing free for all.  Your seat is assigned and no one else can take it.

2. Don't sit in someone elses seat because you like it better. It causes problems on boarding when you are in row 34e but you tell me (with a straight face) I am ticketed 6a and the steward must interject to resolve while everyone waits.  You will need to prove it so just go to your assigned seat!

3. Put your crap- carryon bag, duty free items, crazy last minute expensive airport trinkets,candy, food into your compartment -NOT the first one you see above my seat 6a/b - You are in row 34"f" in/"g"!

4. Night flights are for rest. Do not do acrobatic exercises in your seat (or major yoga- like no down ward dog or legs over the seat in front of you- even if it is empty)

5.* addendum to rule #4-  On all flights  do not do acrobatic exercise in your seat.- Like sitting with your feet on chair crossed yoga style. DO you see the person beside you doesn't like a knee on their lap!

6. The entire crew is not there souly for your enjoyment, use and at the expense of all other  300 paid seat holders. If you want to be treated like royalty buy your own jet.

7. When you eat your meal it is not acceptable to store your chicken and rice in the front compartment to eat when you awake in the morning.  It is fine if it is the peanuts or  a wrapped cookie.

8. Ringing for the host evertime you want a water is not OK. Especially at 3, 4 and 5 in the morning.

9. You have one air vent- the other two are not for you to monoplize.

10. Don't kick the seat in front of you

11. Don't  slam your tray up and down.

12. When you relax you feet should not go so far as to reach beyond the feet of the person in front of you.  (I know an Ostrich was behind me).

14. Do not lift the arm rest between your seat so you can have more room unless it is your wife, child or signicant other.  I paid for a whole seat not 3/4 so you can be more comfy.

15. ????Add yours if I forgot something.....

Glee compared to Muppet Show

This is not on travel but I thought you might get a laugh out of this!

Everyone loves Glee (I like Glee).
But do you notice it is the Muppet Show with teenagers instead of Muppets.

Muppets--had a band
Glee has a band.

Muppets sang and danced to showtunes---Glee sings and dances showtunes

Muppets- have a loud, rather dominating Singing female Muppet(  Ms Piggy- a favorite in her own right)
Glee =has lead female singer- Rachel
Are you seeing a pattern:
Finn = kermit
Kurt=Fozzie
Sue=Grumpy heckler
Noah= Gonzo
Glee Cast PictureBrittany =Janice
Artie= Beeker

All kinds of movie stars are dying to drop in just like the muppets!

Glee-There is always someone getting drenched by something (Slushy Glee).
Muppets everyone got something tossed at them.

I am sure there are more similarities I am missing.

Feel free to add your own.
