San Diego Restaurants- Ok the Coffey Hole in wall guest tour!

Recently, I had some friends visit from Phoenix. Two of the ladies had never been here and recently moved to Phoenix. We decided to do a round about tour making a circle from San Diego through Chula Vista, over to Imperial Beach up the Strand to Coronado then up to Point Loma----eating as we went along.
Our first stop was "Tacos Del Gordo" in Chula Vista.  The first time you bring someone here they will look at you as if you are crazy!  It is a old taco fast food looking store front and the inside is not much better. I told the ladies trust me and only order 2-3 street tacos as it is going to be a long day (of food).
I tried to get them to order a little variety because the Lengua (tongue) is excellent. But they went for Carne Asada and Adobada(marinated pork). I did make sure they asked for all the topping.  They wanted more and these are the best street tacos outside of Mexico. Cheap and delicious.  You could eat 5-6 in a heartbeat.

We got back on the road toured until we reached Coronado.  Hunger returned after a walk on the beach.  A beer stop was needed. (I was designated driver!) We stopped at Mr P's Irish Pub and Grill.  We sat on the patio and watched the tourist eating burgers and fries while Cold brews we tossed down.

Now we didn't eat here but I have many times. It is good for a burger and some outdoor lunch dining while in Coronado but lots of good food can be found on the Island.  This just fits our hole in the wall experience. Cheap (for Coronado), cold beer, outdoor dining.

But if you live in Phoenix and you come to the ocean-you want seafood. So off to Point Loma Seafood for a Late Lunch. Now here you walk up to the fish counter and yell your order to any of the 10 -12 clerks who are waiting to write it up.  You get a beer and stand and wait until they yell your order is ready.  We carried it out to the partial enclosed patio and enjoy. All the fish is FRESH and made to order.

Now this wrapped up Day one but we decided to go to the beach in La Jolla then a burrito place for lunch and why not stay with the theme. Cheap, Good food!
We headed to Wahoo Fish Tacos. If you have never had a fish taco.  You are missing out on some good eating.

The other two places I would add to this tour if we had more time.
Would be Little Italy in the morning for espresso and a doughnut filled with cannoli filling!!!!. Oooh they are so great, OK so fattening and fried to boot.

Also, We might try going to Old Town and finding a large cup of fresh Mango's with Chili and lemon on top. YUM! (On Saturday at the Ol Town Street market- easily the best)

All of these treat would fill you up, give you a taste of San Diego and a tour of the area to go with it.    If you come out ring me up and come hungry!
Pleas add any other Hole in the walls that you know of in San Diego ---or even your town!!!
